APP modified bitumen membrane is waterproofing membrane, manufactured from a rich mixture of bitumen and selected polymers (Astatic Poly Propylene) blended together to obtain excellent heat and UV resistance and waterproofing properties. The polymerized bitumen is coated on to a dimensionally stable reinforcement core of non-woven spun bond polyester rot-proof fabric.
APP modified bitumen is a roofing membrane. Contractors typically apply these membranes to asphalt with a torch. The process looks a little similar to mopping, as the contractor must spread the membrane across all sections of the roof. Once applied, you can choose to leave the roof’s surface smooth or add granules. Depending on what climate you live in, your roofing contractor may highly recommend granules. Granules can help keep your building cooler if you live in an area that experiences hot summers.
